Below are my notes from the Pentecostal World Conference held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 8-27-13.  This is day three.

First up is…

Dr. Glen Burris Jr.

  • President of Foursquare Church
  • 2000 churches in America
  • 65+k globally in 147 countries

Dad was a pastor for 50 years.  The classic Pentecostal preacher.  “He could spit into the 7th row.”  I am different.  I am a junior.  I will likely just share my story.

Topic: Love Mercy

Most of the world will not find themselves at our door looking for Jesus.  We must be commissioned as agents of his mercy.

The Samaritan had compassion.

1.  Mercy is not an emotion, feel, or sympathy.  It is compassion in action.

Mercy is not based on the worth of someone, but on the need.

2.  Mercy will cost you something.

Do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly.  LOVE MERCY.  Consumed with the needs of others.

God grabs Moses and tells him that he has heard their cry.  He invites Moses to join him.  First Moses says no.  Later Moses is so connected to the people is that he is willing to die in their place.

Moses was not a hireling.  He was a true shepherd.

Mercy is setting people free when they don’t even realize they need to be free.

The demonized man was in his right mind and free.  People were more comfortable with him in his dysfunction.

If only every Sunday we were not simply preaching a message, but when people leave the building they see themselves as being commissioned as agents of mercy.

Let your light so shine before men that they would see your good works and glorify God.

Luke 10:30-37

Leah was unloved and God saw her and had mercy on her. Leah was found in the lineage of Jesus.

May you be known by people as being a person of mercy.

Lunch With Daniel Kolenda of CFaN

I had the privilege of meeting up with Daniel Kolenda, the successor to Reinhard Bonnke’s ministry Christ For All Nations.  Daniel is a fellow alumni with my wife and I from the Brownsville Revival School of Ministry.  We all attended during the same time frame. He later went on to further his education at Southeastern College.

He is 32 years old, married, and a father of four.
