Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to
take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Phil 3:12 NIV
This scripture has been floating around in my heart for a little while now and it speaks to me so deeply about something that we all need in life…purpose.
When Jesus Christ takes ahold of a life, you can believe that it is not just to show that person mercy, forgiveness, or even entrance into heaven but it is also to show them the purpose for which he made them.
It is the “that” the the Apostle speaks of here in this verse.
It is purpose.
It isn’t always an easy access to understand what that means for our lives sometimes, but we like Paul here, are called to press and keep pressing. This takes effort on our part and a willingness not to give up so easily.
I have found that in my own life, everything had been going through was preparing me for one main point on the road to my final destiny. There is alot of preparation for the “that” for which Christ Jesus has taken ahold of each one of us. While we must press in for the thing for which God has taken hold of us, we must also remember to enjoy the ride.
Each step in the journey has value when we are in Christ.
Like the multiplication of the loaves and fishes, nothing is ever wasted with Jesus. Each experience and life lesson is building one upon another, to bring us to the place where we will begin to more clearly see what God has purposed for us.
Remember today that if Jesus Christ has “taken hold” of you, then it is for a specific purpose.
It is your privilege to seek it out and press into it. It has been given to you by your Creator and it always involves his Kingdom purposes in some way. It connects with the sanctified desires that He has placed in your heart.
When you are in hot all consuming passionate pursuit of this thing, you will truly be living the “blessed” life.
What about you? What has God been calling you towards? How are you making the most of each day?
