Speaking the Mysteries of God

“For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries.” I Cor 14:2

I don’t know about you, but I love speaking/praying in tongues (in a heavenly language).  What??  Maybe you don’t have a clue what I’m talking about.  If you don’t, you are missing out on something precious that God has given His believers as a tool to communicate with Him and find out “mysteries” or the things that are hidden from plain view.

I like talking to God, but sometimes I reach a place where I don’t know what to say anymore.  That’s when the Spirit of God helps me in my weakness. (Rom 8:25-27).  When I pray in the Spiritual language that God has given me, I am built up in my spirit.(I Cor 14:4)  I began to pray in a way that reveals the “mysteries” of God in my life.  Many times I get revelation about a specific situation in my life or an unveiling takes place in my heart about someone else’s situation.  I also get a fresh strength and power to live for God and obey Him.  I begin to pray the way God would have me pray, not in the weakness of my own mind, but in the spirit with full faith in the promises of God. (I Cor 14:14)

My wife tells me that she was filled with the Holy Spirit during an emergency in her friend’s life.  She says that she was so burdened to pray, but did not know how or what exactly to pray for.  She cried out to God, was filled with His power, and began to pray in tongues with a ferverency that she had never known.  God resolved the situation supernaturally.

God is so good.  He not only saves us, but He fills us with the Holy Spirit and gives us a way to pray that will build us up in the inner man, bring fresh revelation, and a perfect intercession in agreement with the will of God for any situation.  These are tools that no missionary should do without!
