The Summer of Love was the largest migration of young people in American history. It changed countless American lives and affected many generations.
“In the summer of 1967, thousands of young people from across the country flocked to San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury district to join in the hippie experience, only to discover that what they had come for was already disappearing. By 1968 the celebration of free love, music, and an alternative lifestyle had descended into a maelstrom of drug abuse, broken dreams, and occasional violence.” Click Here to Watch the Latest PBS special, “The Summer of Love”
Our generations, generation X & Y, have been reaping the fruit of the counterculture movement that began 40 years ago this year. Now it’s time for the young people of today to set a new course, to plot a new direction for the generations to come. We have experienced the fruit of our parents who forgot God in their life by turning to rebellion, drugs, and free sex. We will honor them by learning from their mistakes.
On 7/7/07 tens of thousands of young people will join together in Nashville, TN. This time it will not be for the sake of sin and rebellion, but to fast and pray for our nation to turn back to Almighty God. 40 years in the wilderness have past. Now, it’s time!
