This morning our fantastic children’s ministry team had the opportunity to minister to each individual child that Hope for Guatemala sponsors. Georgia Derr asked the team if it would be possible to minister to them instead of going through the lesson for the day. Then God took charge of the lesson for both the children and the team!Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted and proclaim freedom the the captives. He came to let people know the Father God who wants intimacy not dead religion. As the women ministered to the children, I remembered the verse where Jesus says, “When you receive one of these little ones in my name, you receive me.”
As the women sat in their chairs, one by one, the children came to them to receive prayer, hugs, and words of blessing, encouragement, and hope. It was a powerful thing. God showed up as the healer of broken hearts. The children were weeping, the women were weeping…it was a big ole gooey God mess. And it was beautiful.
Many of the women had words of knowledge about the children and prophetic words to speak over them. All I have to say is that the “kingdom of heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force”! Curses were broken, assignments of the enemy were cancelled, and blessings were spoken.
This is a great lesson for all of us. Sometimes it necessary to diverge from the “plan” in order to make room for God to move. I’m glad our team was sensitive to that. It think this will be the highlight of the week for many of them.
